About POSITIVE WAVE FOUNDATION (PWF)
Mission:
Improvement of life quality of people living with HIV/AIDS (hereinafter PLWA) from Northwest areas of Russia through providing of access to legal, social, psychological and medical services.
Activity directions:
1. Medical, social and psychological support for HIV positive. Informing and consulting on various aspects of living with HIV.
• Information center for PLWA. Social and psychological adaptation of PLWA and in-forming on the issues of therapy and life with HIV/AIDS.
• Provision of access to pre and post test counseling and HIV testing
• Services of trusted doctors (infectiologist, narcologist, gynecologist, and specialist in skin and venereal diseases)
• Library services, access to the literature on HIV/AIDS and Internet
• Help line consultations
• Development, printing and distributing of informational materials
• Case management
2. Lobbying the interests and advocating the rights of HIV+ on local, regional and federal lev-els.
• Rendering of legal consultations and other types of legal assistance to PLWA and their relatives.
• Trainings on HIV-related aspects of human rights protection for HIV activists of AIDS-service organizations, mutual aid groups and medical personnel.
• Publishing and distributing of informational materials on protection of human rights of a person dealing with HIV and collecting and distributing of related information.
• Collecting and analysis of facts of discrimination. Preparing and presenting of claims to bodies that resolve ascertained facts of discrimination
• Carrying out of informational campaigns
3. Provision of necessary services for HIV positive MSM
• Increase of knowledge of HIV/AIDS issues among HIV positive MSM and MSM
• Network’s capacity building for advocacy and provision of care and support for HIV positive MSM
• Advocacy of rights and interests of HIV positive MSM
• Provision of peer to peer counseling for HIV+ MSM and their families and involve-ment into self support group
• Social network (gayplus.ru) for HIV+ MSM give all necessary information about HIV/AIDS, treat-ment, healthy life style, and services
4. Prevention of HIV among vulnerable population groups
• Outreach project for sex workers. Granting of consultations at the sites of target group gathering
• Prevention among Drug users
